My husband, kids and I stayed at this rifugio during our Alta Via 1 hike. As soon as we got there, we had a delicious lunch (the best canederli in broth we had on the Veneto side of the trail) sitting at one of the outdoor tables and enjoyed the beautiful views of the mountains and garden. While some reviews noted the food as not being good (Italians don’t know how to do breakfast so perhaps they were referring to that?) my Italian husband and I thought it was the best food out of all the rifugios we stayed at on the Veneto side. The chef’s background is in pastries so don’t skip on dessert!
A few things to note: while they provide sheets and blanket, you will need to have your own towel or purchase one at the rifugio, you must pay to take a shower, and limited outlets to plug your electronics.
By far the worst rifugio out of 6 we stayed at. The food, rooms, showers, and service were very subpar. If possible I'd avoid this one.
I originally left a rating without writing a review and the owner has accused me of not paying... The room was paid for in advance and we paid for our drinks in cash before going to bed. Instead of the owner reaching out for feedback he makes random accusations? Disappointing.
I've been two weeks in Dolomiti last year and now I've been here since one week and the Vazzoler is probably the place where I best have eaten Those gnocchi with deer and mele were absolutely delicious. And the staff and even the dog so nice. They give me a lot of information , told me some anecdotes and were really friendly.Thank you and continue doing things like that.
We stayed at Vazzoler after hiking our 5th day of the Alta Via 1. Overall, we were quite disappointed with our stay, especially compared to the other wonderful Rifugios we have stayed at along the way. We were in a dorm which is in a separate building. Essentially, the bottom room consists of five old metal bunk beds in a concrete room with an outdoors bathroom (no toilet, hole in the ground, lots of spiders). The mattresses sagged and really the entire ambience was uncomfortable. The food was mediocre, especially when compared to other Rifugios. It was hot, though, which was nice. The coffee (?) In the morning came from a machine. Breakfast had the fewest options compared to all other Rifugios.
They did have a nice patio, and the staff were friendly. I suppose the rifugio might get an extra half star if I stayed in a room instead. Overall, I would most definitely avoid this rifugio if possible. Though, this may be difficult given its location.
This rifugio is very famous that’s why everyone will stop by and stay here. Food was good, not so special, two many people, rooms are crowded.
Very friendly staff that told us a lot about the local culture. Great food. Positive vibes, very nice people!
The only bonus of this rifugio is a location and dinner/breakfast included in the bed price. The rooms are basic. There are not enough power sockets, so you'll look for a socket in the bathroom. A hot shower is not included and costs 3 euros per 3 minutes. There are not enough toilets for this amount of people. The view to Civetta is good, but you'll probably not enjoy it after an intensive day on AV1.
This rifugio is basic but I wanted to like it. However, one of the hosts was very sick while working and kept coughing into his hand and wiping his nose while serving food, in front of guests. Two days later, I have a terrible cold and it’s ruined the end of my vacation. The food was not good at all.
